When chemicals are transferred to or mixed in a secondary container, label this new container, at minimum, with the product identifier, signal word, and hazard statement(s). Information and Training ISU employees will be informed of the requirements of the Hazard Communication Standard through a training program. Employees will be informed of operations in their department where hazardous chemicals are present and the dangers posed by those chemicals. Methods to avoid exposure will be explained during department- specific information and training sessions. An online Hazard Communication course, available through Learn@ISU, must be taken by all employees that use chemicals outside the laboratory environment. Department Responsibilities Safety coordinators or department supervisors will provide the department-specific Hazard Communication training for their employees. This training will be provided before work with hazardous chemicals begins, new chemical information is acquired, and whenever new hazardous chemicals are introduced into the work area.
