21 Employee Helpful Stuff PLAN OF THE WEEK (POW) The standard operating procedure (SOP) for the POW is available on the intranet. Managers/staff are responsible for submitting POW information for the upcoming week by noon on the last business day of the week. If a manager is on vacation, he/she may delegate this task to another member of the group. The clerk III will compile the info from all program areas, review, and send out to staff. PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS EH&S is a service-oriented department committed to professionalism through friendly and helpful interactions as well as quality and timely services. It is important to remember that your appearance and interactions with faculty, staff, students, administrators, and visitors to the university leave an impression of our department. Etiquette Food and Beverage: Do not place perishable food waste in office space and conference room trash cans. Use the lunch room trash can as it is emptied daily. Limit food at your desk - especially heated foods or aromatic foods as the smell travels throughout the building. If you consume coffee/tea that is available to staff in the lunch room, you are expected to buy your communal share. Office Space : Remember that voices carry; therefore, please respect your neighbors. Use low volume or headsets when using a radio/computer. Avoid talking over the top of cubicles or across corridors. Consider using a conference room for longer meetings. Individual Office Space : Refrain from using someone’s computer and/or office space without permission. For security purposes, shut down your computer at night and when you are away from your desk lock (windows key + L or ctrl+alt+delete) your computer. Avoid going through someone’s personal mailbox, papers on desk, etc. Weekly, the custodians will empty trash in your office space; you will need to keep your office space tidy and professional looking. There is a vacuum available in the Document Center. Public Spaces: To reserve a conference room, use Outlook calendar to see if the room is available to reserve. When finished, turn off lights and equipment; put furniture as found. When using equipment/supplies in the Library/Document Center, Distribution Center, or Learning Center, put items away when finished, for example the laminator. Odors: Some people are sensitive to odors. Minimize the use of aftershaves, colognes, and perfumes. Be aware of body and smoke odors. Aromatherapy products, potpourri, and candles are
